January 10th Board Meeting:
This was the first meeting of the year at the newly renovated club house. In attendance were: Gary Janos, John Heath, Mike Putnam, Jim Gould, JR Roeder, Tim Otterly, Craig Hines, Michael Briscoe, Kenny Moore, Brian McGeary, David Jones, Marc Marchand, and Sergio Silva.
Gary opened the meeting to welcome the new board members, John Heath, Tim Otterly, and Craig Hines. This year the board has 14 members only Tony Jones was absent this time.
This year and going forward the board will meet at the club house on the first Tuesday of every month, and meetings will be kept as close to one hour as possible. The first part of each meeting will be a short presentation by the club employees and management, usually the Head Golf Pro or the Maintenance Management or both to update us on the activities at the club.
The meeting was continued with the election by vote for EWMGA officers: Elected were:
Gary Janos President
Kenny Moore Treasurer
Sergio Silva Secretary
Mike Putnam Vice President
We will ask Phil our head pro to send an email to all EW members to promote joining the EWMGA. We don't know if Phil can or will go ahead with this request but it is worth the try. The more EWMGA members we have the more successful the tournaments and social gatherings will be. An idea was floated that we should have a social gathering paid for by the EWMGA sometime during the year perhaps in September to get the social interaction up within the EWMGA members and family members. I suggest we should invite Phil and Kenny our golf course managers and their wives as well. We will work on this project in our next meeting.
The list of EWMGA sponsored tournaments and the board members that will be responsible for managing the tournaments was introduced and passed to all.
The Bloody Mary Open for January was cancelled because of the terrible weather and re-named the SUPERBOWL OPEN to be played on February 4th. The same participants that had signed up for the Bloody Mary Open will be given the option to stay in signed for the new tournament or remove their names by January 21st. The Bloody Mary Open was sold out so we assume this Superbowl tournament will also be sold out. The Superbowl Open is a four man scramble with a shot gun start to be announced; the cost is $40 per player pretty much the same as the BM Open. Postings will go up on this tournament right away, since time is fast approaching.
We discussed selling squares to have one or two super bowl pools, for $5 and $10 per square. David Jones is managing this tournament and presumably will finalize the super bowl pools by speaking to Phil at the club since the club always also has 2 pools taking place for this event.
The meeting was adjourned around 6:15 , see you all next time.
