Bob Smith
presented a summary of the plans for the first annual Ryder
Cup Challenge to be held between the Bridgemill and Eagle
Watch MGA Board members. This year the event will be held
at Eagle Watch on September 17-18 with a pairing party at
Bridgemill on September 16. The formats and estimated costs
were reviewed with Bob Smith serving as our Captain and Gary
Janos as his assistant. A motion was made, seconded and
passed unanimously that the EWMGA Board will contribute a
beer keg to this tournament.
Big
Kahuna Skins Tournament:
This
tournament will be held this Saturday (August 6th)
and Gary Janos reported that there are 42 sign-ups for this
event as of now. Efforts are continuing to increase this
number. Gary is the tournament chairman Tournament
participation fee is $50 per individual with $10 allocated
to food and $40 to the skins payouts. It was agreed that
the EWMGA would provide one beer keg to this tournament.
EWMGA
Member/Guest Tournament:
This event
will be held on September 24-25 with Gary serving as
tournament chairman and Erik Rosengren and Bruce Worthington
assisting. A draft budget was reviewed (based on a 32 team
participation) which is estimated to require a $2,221
subsidy from the EWMGA. The proposed format (based on last
year’s format) was also reviewed and generally agreed upon.
It was recommended that the “shootout” should be based on a
three-hole format and official scorers should be assigned to
each team in the “shootout”.
It was also
agreed that that the 10-stroke maximum handicap spread
between the two team members rule would apply after
adjustments for different tee playing positions. It was
also agreed that the established rule requiring members to
have previously participated in at least two EWMGA events
this year in order to play in this tournament would apply.
It was agreed that participation in the Thursday Night
League would be recognized as event participation. We also
reserve the ability to make eligibility exception decisions
on a case-by-case basis.
EWMGA-Sponsored Superintendent’s Revenge Tournament:
It was
decided that this tournament, currently scheduled to be held
on Sunday (September 11) would be rescheduled due to the
number of events already occurring that month. Gary Janos
and Phil Suiter will coordinate a new date for this event.
Due to the
upcoming activities, it was decided that another Board
meeting would be held on Tuesday (August 30) starting
at 6:00 pm. The regular September Board meeting will be
held on Tuesday (September 13) starting at 6:00 pm.
