EWMGA BOARD MEETING
MARCH
8, 2011
The Eagle
Watch Men’s Golf Association (EWMGA) Board meeting was
started at 6:00 pm in the Eagle Watch Club House. All Board
members were present except Sergio Silva and Bruce
Worthington. Scott Szymoniak, Phil Suiter and Rick Sandle
of the Canongate/Eagle Watch staff were also in attendance.
Scott
provided an update of current and planned golf course
conditions and plans. He reviewed the course maintenance
weekly schedules and discussed plans regarding GPS
improvements, telephone tee time’s possible changes and
telephone system upgrades.
Erik
Rosengren presented the Treasurer’s Report indicating a
current bank balance of $2,759.86 with no debts
outstanding. He also reported that we have 83 current 2011
members.
Discussion
continued covering 2011 EWMGA tournament activities and
plans as follows:
4-Man
Combined Dogfight:
This event
was held on February 26th and went well. There
were 54 participants. Good feedback was received regarding
the handling of the food service with the use of the advance
menus. The EWMGA treasury received $220 from the tournament
income and an additional $595 from new member signup’s.
Shamrock Shuffle:
This
tournament is scheduled for March 20th and signup
sheets have been posted. Jim Gould and David Scott are the
tournament co-chairmen and will be establishing the budget
and player pairings based on the number of signups. This is
a 2-Man Flighted Best Ball format.
Note: Subsequent to this
board meeting, the tournament date was changed to April
2nd with Bob Smith and Erik agreeing to serve
as co-chairmen. This reschedule was necessary due to
the limited signups for the March 20th date
which impacted the available tee times and prize fund.
Crème
of the Crop:
This
tournament will be held on April 30th and May 1st
with Gary Janos, Bob Smith and Erik as co-chairmen. The
preliminary tournament budget and signup poster were
reviewed. This is an individual best ball of the two days
format. The signup sheet will be posted in the clubhouse
this week.
Thursday Night League:
Gary reported
that this event will start on March 24th with
Gary and Sergio as co-chairmen. The food and beverage
arrangements were discussed with Rick Sandle and efforts
continue to maximize player involvement.
MGA-Sponsored Midnight Madness:
Gary reported
that the official starting date for this event will be moved
from March 11th to a date to be announced. Mark
Dickson and Sergio Silva are the tournament co-chairmen.
EWMGA/BM MGA Ryder Cup:
Bob reported
on this event, planned for probably September 17th
and 18th, to be held between our Board and
the Bridgemill Men’s Golf Association Board members. This
would be a home and home tournament and is anticipated to
become an annual event. He discussed the planned format and
reported that the trophy has been procured.
There was no
further new business presented and the meeting was adjourned
at 7:15 pm.
The next scheduled Board meeting will be held on April 12th
starting at 6:00 pm.
