EWMGA BOARD MEETING

MARCH 11, 2010

The Eagle Watch Men’s Golf Association (EWMGA) Board meeting was started at 6:00 pm in the Eagle Watch Hearth restaurant.  Board members attending were Mark Dickson, Jim Gould, Frank Peters, Erik Rosengren, David Scott, Sergio Silva, Bob Smith, Mike Smithson and Bruce Worthington.  Guests attending were Jim Sims of the Canongate/Eagle Watch staff.  Board members absent were Gary Janos and Alan Whitten.  Jim Gould presided at this meeting due to Gary’s absence.

Erik presented the Treasurer’s Report indicating a current bank balance of $2,046.69 with no debts pending payment.  All reimbursement checks to Board members who advanced funding last year have been distributed except for Joel Greene which will occur this week.

Erik also reported that there are 85 current 2010 EWMGA members.

A brief discussion on the 4-Man Combined Dogfight tournament was held indicating positive feedback from the tournament chairmen and participants.  The tournament netted $725 to the EWMGA treasury.

The Midnight Madness Night Golf tournament, scheduled for this Friday (March 12th), will be cancelled due to the inclement weather conditions and rescheduled.  Mark will coordinate a new date with the club staff.

Jim and Frank led the discussion regarding the Shamrock Shuffle tournament scheduled for Saturday, March 27th.  The planned budget and format were discussed.  This event is planned for 64 players.  Bob will handle the Skins side of the tournament.

Frank presented the information planned for the Thursday Night Men’s League which will begin on March 25th.

Bruce discussed the EWMGA Spring Kick-Off Fundraiser scheduled to be held on Saturday afternoon (May 1ST).  This will be a pig roast with all food and soft drinks donated by Canongate/Eagle Watch Club.  There will be a cash bar with proceeds going to the Club.  This will be an open event (not just EWMGA members) but limited to the first 100 participants.  Sign-ups will be sold at $15 for each participant and arrangements are being coordinated by Jim Sims for the sign-ups tickets to be sold by the restaurant staff and at the door during the event.  Jim will coordinate with Bruce regarding these arrangements.  Participants will be issued nametags at the event entrance.  The event poster was reviewed and it was emphasized that all Board members must strongly advertise this fundraiser to assure success.

The new EWMGA Logo design was briefly discussed.  It was decided by the Board members present that Gary will be authorized to select the final design since the Board vote was evenly divided between the final two selections.

Jim Sims summarized current golf course activities and plans as follows:

  • The new GPS units are anticipated for delivery during April.
  • The acquisition of new golf carts was confirmed and should be available in early April.  The new units will be installed in the new carts.

  • The cart path renovation/replacement project will start this year but will take a couple of years to complete.
  • A planned 5-day green’s pin placement rotation program is being developed.

No new business was presented for discussion.  The next scheduled Board meeting will be at 6:00 pm on Monday (April 12, 2010).  This meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm.

Respectively submitted:  David Scott - Secretary
