EWMGA BOARD MEETING
DECEMBER
14, 2010
The Eagle Watch Men’s Golf Association (EWMGA) Board meeting
was started at 6:00 pm in the Eagle Watch Hearth
restaurant. All Board members were present except Alan
Whitten and Bruce Worthington. Guests in attendance were
Phil Suiter of the Canongate/Eagle Watch staff.
Erik Rosengren presented the Treasurer’s Report indicating a
current bank balance of $492.86 with discussion following
regarding the balance still due for payment from the
Member/Guest Tournament. Erik also reported that we have
received 41 memberships sign-up for the 2011 season so far.
The results of the EWMGA-sponsored Superintendent’s Revenge
Tournament, held on December 4th, were reviewed.
There were 60 participants with feedback very good. It was
decided to establish this as a regular tournament next
year. Potential improvements discussed included (1) moving
the tournament to an earlier month for better weather, (2)
making the pin locations slightly harder, and (3) the need
to have pin location sheets available in all carts. Erik
reviewed the financial summary which, after expensed, netted
$318 into the EWMGA bank account.
Gary Janos then presented the current status of the 2011
Board elections for which voting will close on December 20th.
Fifty-five (55) members have voted so far. Gary will issue
an email and post to our website the election results after
December 20th. The new Board will take office
effective January 1, 2011 with each serving a two-year term.
Gary distributed the draft 2011 EWMGA Tournament schedule
for discussion. The upcoming Bloody Mary Open Tournament
(January 1st starting at 10:30 am) was reviewed
with Jim Gould established as tournament chairman assisted
by Bob and Erik. The proposed format was discussed with
sign-up sheets to be posted quickly and email flyers to be
distributed to both Eagle Watch and Bentwater general
membership. The next event will be the 2-Man Combined
Dogfight Tournament (February 26th). It was
decided that we, in conjunction with the Club would hold a
one-day Member/Guest Tournament on May 21st in
addition to our regular Mini-Member/Guest Tournament
scheduled for October 1st and 2nd.
General agreement was reached on the rest of the proposed
2011 schedule. We are also going to discuss with the Club
management the possibility of holding another BBQ fund
raiser during 2011.
Erik and Mark Dickson were complimented on their agreement
on two discussion items and Erik and Bob Smith on their
agreement on one discussion item during this meeting.
Phil Suiter proved a brief summary of on-going actions on
the golf course. These included that the front nine cart
path asphalting has been completed with some concrete works
still to be accomplished. The similar effort on the back
nine cart paths is still in their 2011 budget. The tarps to
cover course greens during inclement weather are due to be
delivered tomorrow. The removal of trees to open greens and
improve cart path conditions is continuing.
The Board requested that Gary prepare a summary of the EWMGA
actions and decisions during 2010 to be posted and emailed
to the membership following the 2011 election closing. This
summary will include the decision to include Bentwater
members, subject to the rules of the EWMGA
Constitution/By-Laws, to join the EWMGA. The Canongate
staff will be requested to distribute this summary to the
membership of both the Eagle Watch and Bentwater membership
in order to encourage 2011 membership.
There was no further new business presented and the meeting
was adjourned at 7:00 pm. The next scheduled Board meeting
will be held on January 11, 2011 starting at 6:00 pm.
Respectively
submitted: David Scott - Secretary
